Finding parking management solutions in shared spaces
Located on Milner Avenue in Silverdale, Auckland, Investco owns 12 specific parking bays within a larger car park that other tenants and their customers share. A body corporation manages the remaining car parks. Investco were looking for a way to manage their own car parks, without interfering with the other parks in the space.
The challenge
Investco’s customers don’t require car parks for longer than 90 minutes. Investco had problems with non-customer vehicles parking in their parking bays for hours. They approached Stellar looking for an effective yet economical solution that would allow them to manage their parking bays without affecting the rest of the car parks, tenants, or body corp.

The solution
Stellar identified a solution using convenient and contemporary technologies that led to an excellent user experience for all stakeholders, while other tenants who use the car park remained unaffected. The first step was a meeting and a site inspection, which led to the development of a car park management plan. The plan included the design, manufacturing and installation of required signage, exploring suitable camera options and hardware locations. The next step was the procurement and installation of the static LPR cameras, including maintenance.
Solar-powered licence plate recognition cameras were installed to monitor Investco’s12 parking bays. The LPR cameras integrate with Stellar’s car park management software, eView and Ezicom.
When a vehicle is parked in an Investco carpark for more than 90 minutes, enforcement is carried out through a breach notice.
The full enforcement services include a manual review of each breach, obtaining the vehicle owner’s details from NZTA, issuing a breach notice, and providing multiple convenient payment methods, payment follow-up, and reconciliation. Stellar also takes care of all customer service, support, and reporting.
